In late 2019, band members Jason Rabe, Ravi Subramanian and Fernando Sanchez, knew that it was time to find a new outlet for their music. Having played in other bands together over the years, the trio turned a corner when they reunited in the winter of 2019. A creative burst of songwriting happened during that time and they began to record the new material. However, before the songs could be completed, they found themselves in lockdown due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic. Being trapped at home with a bunch of unfinished tracks wasn’t ideal for the band but they were determined to find a way to finish the songs. Jason began to pick through the music, a lot of which were jams, and began to stitch them together into cohesive songs. Something that would have been impossible to do in the analog realm came to life in the digital one. Even though the the original intention behind the music was to be a live process, much of the work was done after the fact “in the box.” He continued to move bits and pieces around until the music came together. Fortunately, they had recored basic tracks in a professional studio so Jason was able to finish the vocals and guitars while at home and mixed the record there as well.  The result is the EP “Us v. Them” and the lead single inspired by the worldwide protests in support of Black Lives Matter, “No Population.”

Healers and Destroyers’ musical roots date back to the mid ’90s. Their love for the rock bands of that era and the spirit of that music can be heard throughout the songs which they play with passion and ferocity. Much of what drives them is the desire for something else to exist alongside the overwhelming success of Pop music which has dominated the airwaves for the past decade. For them, rock music is not just personal but political as well. With angular guitar lines and anthemic vocals, driving drums and melodic bass parts, Healers and Destroyers seeks to find a new space for rock and roll.
